Worst Week of the School Year So Far

Hmmm, okay, I'll finish my homework in 2 hours. I have plenty of time.
          -Turns on computer-
Well, I've GOT to go on Facebook, Hotmail AND Youtube.
          -One hour later-
Melanie! You have to start your work! ...oooo what's that video about? IT LOOKS SO COOL!
           -Five gazillion hours later-
Okay. I should start my homework now (:

Curse the internet! You see, I don't prefer to go on the computer to type up my work because I get easily distracted and carried away and then I don't want to do anything. I just want to eat, play and sleep. I only try to go on when I have a little homework or when I have to type up or research about something. But everything is just a click away and it is soooo tempting!
For the past week, I've wasted A LOT of time watching videos on YouTube -.- I push my "little amount of homework" aside to do at like 9pm at night. Then when I finally get to it, it takes longer than I expect. I end up going to sleep at like 1am. GRRRRR.
          I. Need. Better. Self. Control.
I'll try to work on it this week though. It'll be a tough one.
In other news, my English teacher is a pain and decided to deduct 10% off the final mark of my essay because it was incomplete. Supposedly she had told the entire class that we must finish our essays on Thursday or she's marking it as is. She claims that before she said this she said what we heard, which was that we could finish it up on Friday.(It was an in-class essay btw) Well, hmm, teacher. Why do you think FIVE PEOPLE didn't hear it!?!? That's why I'm suspicious that some of my classmates who had heard her say this didn't pass it around to those who had left the classroom, which included me. They are all in one clique. I only found out that she was marking it on Thursday, at the end of the school day -_-. I didn't bother going afterschool because she clearly said that she has to leave at 3:15pm, the end of the school day.
You know, I wouldn't be very mad about this if I was actually semi-pro in English class because I could easily pull out like a fricken 90 - 95, and then just end up with a 80-85, which isn't that bad. BUT, if you're an average English student like me, your English marks range around the 80's-85's. Now, deduct 10% from that mark. That's a grade difference right there!!! And, I'm kind of freaking out because last year when I wrote my essay, I got like a 68% on it and then a 72% when I re-did it. Now deduct 10% from that and I could be getting a C or D -_____________-
What gets me even more is that I only had basically my concluding paragraph to finish and then I was done. My English teacher told us that we could come down in the afternoon to finish it, if we weren't doing anything important in our afternoon classes(she thinks that English class is the most important...-.-). On Thursday, we did nothing in Science class and we did review in Math. I didn't want to skip Math because we were reviewing for a quiz that was the next day(Friday). But Science, I could've skipped if I really needed to. But, I didn't think I had to because I thought that she would let us do it on Friday!! (I ended up doing a review sheet in Science, so it wasn't like I wasted the time period either.)
Then, on Friday morning, she gave us back our essays to finish up, but she told us that she'd deduct 10% off it. As I was finishing up my essay yesterday, it only took like 10 minutes to complete. 10 SHORT MINUTES! I get a -10% because I didn't come for 10 minutes? Are you kidding me?
So I went investigating. I checked my school agenda and the school board's policy on late assignments and I distinctly remember it saying that mark deductions should only be used as a last resort -.- Yeah, nope. It is actually her first resort! Why am I not surprised!?!?
Well, anyways, I didn't anticipate this to be as long as it is. I'll see you guys later, alligators.

Seasons are changing~ ...no, not those seasons

I believe I last wrote a blog post about a month ago..? :P I have to admit, this is definitely not my first priority. I've probably said this so many times but I normally type these as a way to procrastinate. I see blog writing as an activity that is semi-productive xD Sooo, now that I'm here, you can assume that I have quite a lot of work to do.
Seasons would typically make you think of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, or, probably in the opposite order if you're from Australia or something xP. Anyways, no, I will not be talking about those seasons, although it is very cold in Fall right now....-.-
SPORTS SEASONS~ Yes, so my week days have been filled with extracurricular activities lately. I like that I'm keeping busy because it makes me feel like I'm being productive and that I'm a part of something.
My Basketball season ended last week. Our season record was 1-3 and then we lost our semi final playoff game for Tier 2 Championships. The score was 17 - 24. I was a little bummed out because we were in the lead until about the 3rd quarter and then they caught up. I didn't get to go on until the 4th quarter for the last 6 minutes of the game. If you were there, you wouldn't BELIEVE how antsy I got throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the game O-O. I was shaking my knees, hugging my knees while on the bench, semi-yelling, etc. Normally, I am put on the court for a bit of the 2nd quarter and then majority of the 3rd quarter. However, at first half, I didn't even get a lick of time on the court. So, at half time, I asked my coach if I was going to play today and she was like, Yeah. She said it in a tone that was similar to saying "Obvvviously" and I think she was thinking, "What kind of question is that?"
And so I got 6 minutes on the court. I shouldn't be complaining too much because like 5 of the players didn't even get to play at all o-o. And that was that. We took a team photo about a few days after and the season just...ended o.o
HOWEVER, the following week, which is the week that had just finished, was Volleyball tryouts. I don't know if I ever spoke about this in my blog, but last year I tried out for Volleyball at my school and I didn't make the team. There were about 40 girls who tried out and I truly think that I was quite intimidated. Close to none of my serves made it over the net, yet I can serve close to perfectly ANYWHERE else -___-. The coach specifically said that if you can't serve, you can't play. And so I didn't make the team last year, which is why I was so HESITANT about trying out this year. I missed the meeting to get the tryout form because we were taking a team photo and I was unsure if I was going to tryout at that time.
I finally decided at the end of the day (the day that the meeting was held) that I was going to tryout. This is because I wanted to redeem myself from last year (pride is very much a part of me) and I want to know that I tried and not ask questions like "What if?". And so I got a tryout form and went to the 3 tryouts. I heard that there were about 60 people at the meeting, but only about 40 showed up to the tryouts. We focused mostly on serving and bumping and then a tiny bit of setting and spiking.
To be honest, I was quite surprised with myself. Like I knew that I was quite decent in Volleyball, but I never knew that I could do what I did in those tryouts. My bumps went pretty straight up and went in the general direction of the spot that it was supposed to go. For serving, I was especially anxious because I messed up so badly last year, probably because I was rushed. So, I used this regime that I usually preform before serving: I bounce the balls up to 3 times on the ground. This calms me down and gives me a feeling of the ball. My first serve skimmed the tape at the top of the net and the rest of my serves went safely over. But, one of my serves landed out o-o. My setting was okay...but I don't think many people's were that great either.
And my spiking :O I've never properly spiked before. The coach taught us which steps to take, how to jump and how to hit. I followed those directions and it worked out for the most part. I was feeling good after the tryouts but I wasn't feeling too secure because there were alot of girls that were good too.
Friday at lunch, the list goes up and I see: Lin, Melanie. YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW I FELT THEN. I felt sooo much pride! It truly made me feel like "Anything is possible~" and that failure is not permanent. However, shortly after, I noticed that out of the 14 people on the team, 10 of them were niners and 4 of them were 10th graders. In the tryouts, I only really noticed 4 niners who STOOD out, but apparently those weren't the only ones. As well, out of all the tenth graders that made it, I was the only one who wasn't on the team last year o-o. AND, some of tenth graders who were on the team last year (I only know 2 so far) didn't make the team! That is BS! I saw some pretty good tenth graders and they didn't make it -____-.
My first practice is on Monday and I'm excited to see who these anonymous 6 niners are -.- I hope they are pretty decent because otherwise, those tenth graders who didn't make it, were cheated of their spot on the team! AND, what pissed me off some more was that this girl who didn't show up to 2 of the 3 tryouts, made the team! She wasn't even that good either. This girl who was on the team last year showed up to 2 tryouts and is super pro and she didn't make it !!
This season is sure to be interesting....
